Maya Zanella is a passionate photographer who specializes in portraiture. When she isn't at the barn taking portraits of horses or riding her own horse, she is behind the lens of her camera taking photos of people. One of Maya's motives that drives her forward is her hope to not only capture a photo of a person, but their emotion and personality as well. She believes that photography is a window to the soul. Maya is not only a strong photographer, but is proficient with photoshop and bridge as well. Maya uses a Canon 70D and is adept with a wide range of lenses and tools. Her favorite tool is a gold reflector. While many photographers stick to silver or white, Maya is a huge fan of the gold reflector because of the warm tones it casts, bringing a cordial summer feel. Maya draws a lot of her inspiration from art and famous photographers. In the winter of 2016, Maya took part in an art trip to New York. Her two biggest inspirations are Andreas Gursky and Steve McCurry. Like many photographers, there are occasionally struggles. One quote that helped Maya was by Robert Capa. "If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough." Maya has used this tip numerous times in her portraits and recommends that new photographers also draw their inspiration from each other.
